The History and Origins of Halloween

Halloween, celebrated on October 31st, has deep historical roots that date back over 2,000 years. It originated with the ancient Celtic festival of Samhain, which marked the end of the harvest season and the beginning of winter.
The Celts believed that on the night of Samhain, the boundary between the living and the dead blurred, allowing spirits to walk the Earth. To ward off these malevolent spirits, people lit bonfires and wore costumes.
This tradition eventually evolved into the modern Halloween celebration we know today.
